Outlaw Racing Back at Florence Speedway; Nabs Top Five Performance
(July 21, 2019) Jesse James Lay and his #33 team were back in the pit area at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, July 20 for a weekly Super Late Model showdown. Jesse scored a popular win in heat race action at his hometown track and later started the $1,200 to win main event from the inside of the second row. Jesse then raced hard all over the top five throughout the 30-lap headliner and eventually wound up fifth at the checkered flag behind only race winner Josh Rice, Robby Hensley, Trevor Landrum, and Dustin Nobbe. Jesse James Lay Lands Top Tens at Ponderosa & Lake Cumberland
(July 14, 2019) The #33 team headed south to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky and Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky on July 12-13 for a pair of $5,000 to win tilts. On Friday night at Ponderosa, Jesse James Lay ran fourth in his heat race in preliminary action prior to vaulting up to tenth in the main event. At Lake Cumberland on Saturday evening in a similar unsanctioned contest, Jesse laid down the thirteenth fastest lap overall during time trials, finished sixth in his heat race, and later climbed past three competitors during the 40-lapper to capture a solid eighth place effort - despite losing a tire. Lay and #33 Team Travels to Moler and Lawrenceburg
(July 7, 2019) Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team ventured to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio and Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on July 5-6 for a pair of $1,500 to win Super Late Model programs. On Friday night at Moler, Jesse broke a rear-end in hot laps, but quickly made repairs to finish second in the heat race. After starting fifth on the grid in the headliner, Jesse was still feeling the effects of the rear-end issues and slipped back to a twelfth place effort. At Lawrenceburg on Saturday evening, Jesse placed sixth in heat race action and later blitzed past seven competitors during the 25-lap sprint to bag a strong fifth place performance behind only victor Josh Rice, Joe Brewer, Dustin Nobbe, and Trevor Landrum! Jesse James Lay Narrowly Misses Out on Ralph Latham Memorial...
(June 30, 2019) The #33 Outlaw Racing team made the short trek to Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, June 29 for the annual running of the 'Ralph Latham Memorial.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the premier event and a $12,000 top prize was up for grabs. Jesse James Lay advanced to finish fifth in his loaded heat race prior to winding up fourth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, those finishes were one spot shy of transferring the Union, Kentucky driver into the 50-lap headliner, which was ultimately won by Jonathan Davenport. Lay Sneaks Over to Moler; Sees Rain Again at Florence...
(June 15, 2019) Jesse James Lay and his Outlaw Racing team made a last minute call to travel to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday evening, June 14 to do battle in a $1,500 to win Super Late Model event. Jesse blew a tire in his heat race and later pulled off early in the 25-lap main event to settle for a fifteenth place showing. His son Austin Lay made his first start against the Super Late Models and was credited with a respectable thirteenth place performance in the unsanctioned contest. Outlaw Racing Earns Another Top Five Finish at Florence Speedway!
(June 2, 2019) The Outlaw Racing team and driver Jesse James Lay invaded Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky once again on Saturday evening, June 1 for a weekly Super Late Model program. Jesse ran third in his heat race and posted another top five performance in the $1,200 to win feature event at the nearby 1/2-mile oval. At the unfurling of the checkered flag following thirty green flag circuits, Jesse was fifth behind only victor David Webb, Billy Green, Joe Brewer, and Chris Shannon! Lay Turns Heads During $5,000 Show at Nearby Florence
(May 26, 2019) Jesse James Lay and his #33 team were back in the pit area at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 25. An unsanctioned Super Late Model show at the nearby 1/2-mile oval drew a strong 38-car field to do battle for the $5,000 winner's check. Jesse, who has been consistently fast all year long at Florence, won his loaded heat race over Darrell Lanigan and Frank Heckenast, Jr. and later rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 50-lap feature event. After running inside of the top five early in the contest, Jesse was eventually caught up in a skirmish caused by another competitor and was relegated to a disappointing nineteenth place effort. (May 19, 2019) The #33 Outlaw Racing team rolled back into Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night, May 18. A weekly Super Late Model program was held at the nearby 1/2-mile oval and a $1,200 winner's check was up for grabs. Jesse James Lay improved three spots in his heat race to finish fourth and later rolled off from the inside of the fourth row in the 30-lap headliner. Jesse was then on the move again in the A-Main and blasted up inside of the top five to finish in the fifth position behind only victor Josh Rice, Kody Evans, Billy Green, and Trevor Landrum! (May 12, 2019) Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team looked to finally beat Mother Nature on Saturday evening, May 11 in a weekly $1,200 to win Super Late Model program at the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. Jesse ran a strong second in heat race action and was looking for an impressive run in the 30-lap feature event as well. Lay Vaults to as High as Second; Winds Up Fifth at Florence
(April 14, 2019) The Outlaw Racing team invaded Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night, April 13 for another $1,200 to win weekly Super Late Model showdown. Jesse James Lay placed fourth in his heat race and later started the 30-lap main event from the outside of the fourth row. Jesse then vaulted all the way up to second and was running in the runner-up position late in the distance before getting shuffled back to fifth at the unfurling of the checkered flag. Jesse James Lay Kicks Off 2019 Season; Lands on Podium!
(April 7, 2019) With inclement weather pushing back his 2019 season opener, Jesse James Lay finally lifted the lid to his year on Saturday evening, April 6 at the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! Jesse started at the tail of his heat race, but did not stay there for long - blasting all the way up to third in his prelim. After starting the $1,200 to win Super Late Model feature event from the outside of the second row, Jesse drove to the front and led the majority of the distance. A bad restart following a late caution flag possibly cost him a victory, but the Union, Kentucky driver was able to bring home a strong third place podium performance in the 30-lapper behind only race winner Robby Hensley and runner-up Trevor Landrum!
